One of the funniest classic movies is Animal House with John Belushi. It is one of the first or, perhaps, the first teen / college romp film. Great thing is, Animal House has a scene that used a classic car. In the parade scene, the brothers of Delta Tau Chi rigged a black 1964 Lincoln Continental to carry a float that hid them and their true intention. “Eat Me” was inscripted on the float as a message of defiance to the school authorities. The whole thing was funny.

As for the car of choice, well, it was a good one. The 1964 Lincoln Continental was what we refer to as “boats”. Big, elegant family cars that can fit you and all your friends with a quiet and comfortable ride. Great for cruising and road trips, which was what the Delta brothers did.

There were two models of the ’64 Continental offered, a 4-door sedan and a 4-door convertible. A 430 cid V-8 engine was standard. It came with the best luxury offerings at the time, namely, power seats, power windows, power brakes, and power steering.
I’m gonna include in this blog entries from music videos as well as movies and TV shows. This first one will be on the 1960 Buick LeSabre Convertible that’s seen in the Gogo’s music video for their 80′s hit song, “Our Lips are Sealed.”

This is a perfect car for cruising. You should be able to pack in a lot of your friends for cruise on the beach. At least that’s how I’d use it. Of course, they can’t be sitting on the edge of the car. But back in the days, it was ok.
The car itself has very unusual design. Very distinctive of times gone past, they really don’t make cars like this anymore. I’m particularly fond of the back fins, which were popular at the time. The upper front fenders kinda look like eyebrows of an angry face.

The 1960 Buick LeSabre was powered by a 364 cid V-8 that can put out 250 horsepower at 4400 rpm. The car also had finned aluminum brake drums for reliability. 13,588 units were made.
One fun thing about playing a lead character in The Fast and the Furious movies is that you get to drive several cars. In Tokyo Drift, Sean Boswell (played by Lucas Black had began the movie racing in a white 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo. He then trashed a 2001 Nissan Silvia S-15 owned by Han. Then to get ready for Japanese street car racing, he had to learn how to drift using a 2006 Mitsubishi Evo IX. The Evo IX was one of the car owned by Han who wanted his lackey, Boswell, to get around in style.

Sean’s red 2006 Mitsubishi Evo IX was powered by a turbocharged 2L DOHC 4G63 engine with a RMR air intake system. It came equipped with Ray’s Wheels G-Games 99B (19 x 8.5 inch) and Toyo Proxes T1R tires. Also, since the Mitsubishi Evo IX had a 4-wheel drive, the front drive wheels were disconnected so that the car could drift. It needed to be tricked out so that it could runaway from DK’s 350Z posse. Altogether, there were 7 red Evos used to play Sean’s car.
