Open Question: Why is the transmission in my 95 Mitsubishi Eclipse automatic slipping?
I have a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS 2.0 non-turbo automatic front wheel drive. It has plenty of transmission fluid in it and it looks fine. When trying to drive it on the road/flat ground it slips & revs out, then will grab hard, and then slip all over again. If I drive it up my driveway, or around my yard (both uphill) it drives fine. Reverse works fine either way. What could be wrong? Is the transmission completely junk or could there be something dumb wrong with it that can be fixed?

well.. the antenna is where all the antennas should be i guess well.. in the back of mine on the left back side well i was wondering how do i make it go up cuz its like inside -_- is their a button to make it come out? i just bought it and was wondering do i manually have to get a tool and unscrew it out or is their a button please and thank you

i have a 1995 mitsubishi eclipse GST...manual transmission...! its all stock except its been lowered and has a full 3inch custom exauhst.....if i raced what cars wud mine be able to beat (talking all stock) ......which ones wud mine be able to beat?

Ok, so the theories are numerous with this one...i'm looking for the best educated guesses i can get!
It's an automatic, non-turbo w/ 117K...
The problem: the RPMs run high. Up to around 45mph its around "2-2.5", randomly it will jump up to "4" sometimes...and above 45mph it's always above "4". I never thought about it before i started reading up on it, but it does idle kind of roughly also. It's not huge, but it doesn't exactly "purr"..
The trans fluid is clean and the levels are fine. Acceleration doesnt stutter, doesnt stall. Just....runs high! Cant go over 60-65mph.
I've heard the trans filter being clogged, the gears could be stripped, something about the crankshaft? I'm a girl, i don't know about these things! Basically I just need some clear knowledgable answers about what I should be looking for, and what the most likely possabilities are.
And most importantly: do you think the trans needs to be replaced, or can i fix it without breaking the bank?
