In the 2000 movie, Gone in 60 Seconds, Memphis Raines and his crew of professional car thieves were to boost 50 specific cars in one night. In order to mislead eavesdropping cops, the gang nicknamed each car on the list with that of a woman’s name. Naturally, the list contained some of the most exotic vehicles known to man such as a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible a.k.a. Stefanie, 1995 Ferrari 355 B a.k.a. Diane, and a 1994 Jaguar XJ 220 a.k.a. Bernadene.

Among the coolness stood Eleanor, a 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500. Equipped with 428 Police Interceptor engine rated over 350 hp, the raw power of the GT500 was legendary.
There were two models of Shelbys made in 1967, the GT350 and the GT500. With only a total of 3,225 between the two models made in 1967, Shelby mustangs were (and still are) very rare. They were so hard to find that replicas had to be used in the movie. Twelve 1967 Ford Mustang Fastbacks were retrofitted to look like 1967 Shelby Mustangs for used throughout the movie. Only one true Shelby was used. And that was at the very end when Kip (played by Giovanni Ribisi) gave Memphis a Shelby as a gift.
Highly prized by collectors, an original 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 was auctioned off for $190,000 in March 2008 at Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Beach, Florida.
